Neo-Pagan Journals

In addition to several encyclopedias and books, a number of Neo-Pagan journals take up issues of the movement and discuss them.

IMPORTANT NOTE We haven't read all the following journals but are in the process of procuring them for the Gould Library of Carleton College (the seminary of the Reformed Druids). Unfortunately, it is often difficult for your libary to borrow reference materials from other libraries. However, I would recommend that you check the book carefully for poor scholarship before using them and send your opinions to hachimike@hotmail.com

The Pomegranate Magazine

The Pomegranate is the combined effort of a group of senior Pagans in the and Canada. Its purpose is to provide a scholarly venue for the forthright and criticalexamination of Neopagan beliefs and practices. We intend this Journal to be a forum for theexchange and discussion of the philosophy, ethics, and spiritual potential inherent within modern Paganism's many paths. The consideration of new ideas, as well as the exploration of the roots of our current practices, such as classical Paganism, western esoteric traditions and influences from other disciplines, will be included. In the interests of promoting lively discussion, we encourage both our writers and our readers to keep an open mind, and to be ready to explore a wide variety of outlooks.

We do not endorse controversy for its own sake, but recognize that some ideas will be challenging. Our readers will be informed, intelligent and responsive. Although we are looking for an accessible, informal style, we encourage and expect good scholarship. Writers should be prepared to identify their own beliefs as such and diligently credit their other sources.
